I Google scanner Freq's for my area and it works great. I use every feature. It is easy to program, just follow the instructions. I have a longer antenna i found at a yard sale however it works just as good with the one it came with.
The NIST Atomic Clock, Battery Backup, All-Hazard Alert, and Weather Scan are all nice features. 4)Also, It is one thing to know that a given Frequency may be active and quite another to know which Agency may be using that Frequency. Uniden are known for their Quality and Reliability.Uniden have been around for some time now, and should continue to be.The Owner's Manual is straightforward and easy to understand.2) it works as advertised.Ours reliably receives traffic in the 400 MHz and 800 MHz ranges reliably with only the set-back whip antenna. Pros: 1)It's a Bearcat. I have not used the Service Search Feature, so I really can't really comment on it, other than to assume that like everything else, it will work as advertised. As noted elsewhere, some larger Municipalities and Agencies have migrated to Trunked Radio Systems which would require a different type of Scanner to monitor. 3) Read the Owner's Manual Carefully, you may preview it at [.].,which has other helpful documents available in PDF format.
So the Audio Quality on Broadcast AM or FM may leave something to be desired for some.
As noted elsewhere the Alarm Clock Feature works just fine. And, The 30 Bank X Channel Memory Architecture will allow the Scanner to accommodate an expand (ing)(ed)interest as new Frequencies and Agencies may come on line.Cons: none that I can see except that 1) perhaps that the AM Loop Antenna doesn't enhance the aesthetics of an otherwise clean design (besides, does anybody really listen to Broadcast AM Radio, anymore).I have not used any of the AM/FM/TV features since I have no real interest in any of these.(However,I would assume that they will all work).2).
4) Per the Manual, write down everything that you may program.
Uniden has been the Scanner market Leader for years, and have outlasted virtually all other competitors.
A visit to your local Police or Fire Station can probably help here, as most Police and Firefighters are Scanner Buffs in their own right, an will most likely be happy to help out a novice.
This Scanner's many features may add some complexity to the Radio, but this effect maybe diminished or eliminated by reading the Owner's Manual carefully.Caveats: While I do not claim to be an expert, I would offer these suggestions:1) Be sure that your expectations are properly set.
2) bear in mind that The BC370CRS is first and foremost a Public Safety Radio Scanner.
(I keep my list in an Excel Spreadsheet).
Also, some agencies are using Digitized Voice Technology(APCO P25 or similar), which will sound like a harsh buzzing noise in an Analog Scanner like the BC370CRS.The Bottom Line is that we're very happy with it; We like it a lot, and, IMHO, the Uniden BC370CRS is a good, solid, feature-rich Conventional Analog Scanner which should provide reliable and enjoyable service foe a long time.Five Stars from this Clamdigger.
I am very glad it come with it. The included info about where to find local frequencies was a plus. The reception is a minimum of "3 Bars" better than my handheld.[a plus in rural WI].I did not want the clock. The snyc w/ the atomic clock and battery back-up are great features. I like the weather alert feature.[heavy snow, severe T-storms and Tornadoes are normal here]I would buy this again.
Excellent coverage. Picks up all civ and mil aviation. Smaller form factor than I expected. Will run off battery if you want to take it with you.
See my review of the seller. Can't go wrong with buying here on Amazon. The Service Scan feature comes in really handy in scanning the most widely used frequencies for particular Services.
I love this radio. I have a pre-Uniden scanner that has 18 programmable channels so this is a wonderful upgrade.
Perfect for nightime scanning. It not only looks great it operates just as well.
The radio is sensitive to pull in the weaker signals, Sounds good and clear, has plenty of user friendly features and loads of channels to program.I like the clock alarm feature and backlit readout. Police,Fire, Aircraft etc.Besides being a good radio I got it for a good price here on Amazon for $119 from DigitalEtc.Super fast processing and delivery.
Good products and good prices.Been shopping here on Amazon for about 9 years and never had a problem.Satisfied here in Jersey.
